Senior Delivery Manager
With around 250 colleagues, our IT is big enough to experience the benefits of a mature company while being small enough to respond dynamically. We are constantly evolving and have boundless ambition. With around 200 DevOps engineers in 28 teams, we have set up the teams so that each team has a clear scope and each engineer can have full input and impact. Seven teams make up an “ART”. This ART is led by three “Amigos”. A product manager, an architect and an RTE.
As Delivery Manager, you are HR responsible for the employees in your ART, you bear ultimate responsibility for ops, change and budget, you are the vendor manager for our external partners and you are the RTE for the ART. So no classic matrix, but full delivery responsibility in one hand.
“Always on”, “Data driven”, “Speed” etc. are obviously crucial, but not always as obvious to realise in practice. We are looking for a seasoned leader to join us as part of the MT to build a great DevOps organisation.
Are you excited by the chance to build your own team and have full responsibility for team building and culture in addition to full responsibility for delivery? Then this is the place for you.
What does a random day of our Senior Delivery Manager look like?
You start a day with an update from the marketing campaigns for our top vacancies. The new vacancy text seems to get less response than expected. You immediately ask the lead engineer in this domain for a more appealing version.
You then work with 3 colleague managers from different divisions of the company on a concrete proposal for a renewed assessment structure that is fully based on continuous learning and having the real conversation.
Next, you briefly join the SOS to get a taste of how the sprint is going and walk on to a community event of our cloud community where you share your vision of quality monitoring with engineers and engage in a dialogue with them about the role of the cloud platform as an enabler of the whole.
You have lunch with a group of engineers about the agenda for the next hackathon. You decide that one of the engineers will present the draft agenda at a community event to gather feedback from the other engineers.
After lunch, you have a short phone appointment with a vendor to give him feedback on one of the engineers who is struggling with the speed of the team and get a quick update from one of the scrum masters on the insights from the blameless post mortem following last week’s incident.
You then spend a few hours working on your plan to structurally increase domain knowledge in the teams and on the final version of your budget for next year.
After the job interview with a potential new engineer, at 16.00h you have a final work session with the product manager and the architect with whom you jointly lead the ART for the weekly operational ART consultation.
To round off your day, you quickly message the lead engineer to check whether the new vacancy text is working and you will answer your last e-mails so that your mailbox is empty again and your head is ready for a new day.
