Mobile App Platform Developer

Instead of working on a single feature or product, you’ll focus on shared mobile infrastructure: reusable components, SDKs, tooling, CI/CD, and best practices that scale across teams. Your work will have a broad impact and help shape how mobile development is done across the organization.

Within the Mobile Platform Team, you’ll join a multidisciplinary group of professionals that look after the foundations behind our apps. We build and maintain the shared platform product teams depending on, and we work across teams to connect platform needs with product delivery. The goal is simple: help teams move faster without having to solve the same problems over and over.  

Over the past year, we’ve shipped a lot of improvements across both platform and key customer journeys. Just a few examples: we migrated the app to Expo, modernized our CI/CD pipelines with EAS, shipped a refreshed onboarding flow, and replaced our in-app chat provider. This didn’t change for the sake of it. It’s helped us create a mobile ecosystem that’s easier to maintain, more reliable, and nicer to work in day to day.

Next up, we’re continuing to strengthen the platform with better tooling and automation, higher quality and reliability, and steady improvements to shared flows. We’re currently looking at areas like authentication and onboarding, navigation standards, testing and observability, performance benchmarking, accessibility tooling, and internationalization. There’s plenty of room to influence what we tackle next, and to help shape mobile development at Essent scales across teams.

• Proficiency in the English language, with good verbal and written communication skill
• Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and React fundamentals
• Experience developing mobile applications with React Native framework and Expo
• Familiarity with Git for version control and collaboration
• Experience working with REST APIs to consume backend services
• Proficiency in testing frameworks such as Jest, testing-library, and Maestro.
• Understanding of Gitlab CI/CD pipelines for automated builds and deployments.
• Knowledge of mobile app development processes and lifecycles.
• Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and mobile design patterns
