Infrastructure Engineer

The first thing you will notice when you walk into our office is the large number of screens. Being a trading company and trading energy products in a competitive market requires high-end IT solutions. Fast operating workstations and lots of data sources automatically being processed by our IT systems, making it possible for the traders to act fast and responsive under continuously changing market circumstances. On all these screens you will see the information presented in dashboards built by our Data Engineers and Scientists, making it possible for the Traders to make the best decisions.
It goes without saying that it is very important that the systems, hardware and software always work properly and when issues arise, they must be solved as quickly as possible. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you are the first to act in the event of a malfunction.
Furthermore, you will be one of the primary contacts for Northpool employees when they have questions or requests for new system developments, and for example, deployment of new Virtual Machines or applications to host the latest created analytical models.
Your key responsibilities:
- Administer virtualization platforms, with a preference for Hyper-V.
- Handle patch management processes and tools across diverse systems.
- Support and manage IT infrastructure components, including servers and cloud services.
- Operate and maintain Linux servers and ensure seamless integration within the existing infrastructure.
- Develop and enforce security policies, device compliance standards, and configuration baselines.
- Manage and maintain Microsoft environments, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Entra ID.
- Implement automation for build, deployment, and administration tasks using PowerShell and Ansible.
- Perform troubleshooting and modifications of Terraform code, including updating configurations and understanding the principles of infrastructure as code.
- Ensure solid documentation practices for operational handovers and process transparency.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and management of Docker containers, including understanding container lifecycle, images, and fundamental containerization concepts
- Support backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system stability, scalability, and security.

WE ASK:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or system engineering role(s).
- A curious, analytical mindset with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft technologies and enterprise environments.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms, preferably Hyper-V.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies.
- Comfortable working with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Clear understanding of backup strategies and security best practices.
WE LIKE:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access and hybrid identity configurations.
- Familiarity with containerized services.
- Proficiency in Ansible for administrative automation.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools, such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Experience with security hardening, auditing, and penetration test remediation.
- Knowledge of infrastructure security including IAM, encryption, networking and compliance frameworks
- Experience with incident response and IT governance.
- Interest in IT security and eagerness to stay updated on industry best practices.
- Experience working in Agile teams and delivering within set timelines.
