Project Manager, Renewable Energy Development
BayWa r.e. Benelux, Amersfoort, The Netherlands, Full-time
About the role
The Project Manager is accountable for the successful delivery of renewable energy projects from late development through transaction readiness. You are responsible for control of scope, budget, liquidity, planning, governance and contract interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.
This role is suited to someone who is strong in project control, financial discipline, planning and stakeholder management. Experience in renewable energy is valuable, but not essential. We are equally interested in candidates from construction, infrastructure, electrical engineering, industrial projects or other capital-intensive technical environments who know how to keep complex projects moving under pressure.
Key responsibilities
Project control and financial management
- You own the project budget and maintain control over DEVEX, CAPEX, OPEX, cash flow and liquidity throughout the lifecycle of the project.
- You track performance against plan, identify deviations early and escalate clearly with proposed corrective actions.
- You maintain and update the financial model in close cooperation with the Commercial Project Analyst and ensure that the financial basis of the project remains current and decision ready.
- You actively manage project risk. When issues arise, you do not wait for others to surface them.
- You assess impact, define options and bring forward a clear recommendation.
Scope, schedule and governance
- You manage scope with discipline.
- You know exactly what is included in the project, what is excluded and what the consequences are of any proposed change.
- You build and maintain realistic project schedules in Workfront and keep milestone logic accurate from ready to build through the whole project lifecycle.
- You prepare governance materials for governance bodies to the required standard and on time.
- You ensure that projects are decision ready and that management receives clear, structured and reliable information.
Contracts, procurement and due diligence
- You manage the contractual framework of the project.
- You ensure that contracts are in place, understood, monitored and enforced.
- You keep the data room complete, current and audit ready.
- You coordinate due diligence processes and ensure timely, accurate responses to investors, lenders and internal stakeholders.
- You maintain high data quality in Workfront and reporting tools, recognising that management decisions rely on the accuracy of project inputs.
Stakeholder management and commercial interface
- You manage interfaces across technical, legal, commercial and financial workstreams and make sure that no issue is left unresolved between contracts or stakeholders.
What we are looking for
Background and experience
- You have solid experience in project management within a capital-intensive technical environment. This may be renewable energy, construction, infrastructure, electrical engineering, industrial projects or offshore.
- You have a proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder projects with direct responsibility for budget, schedule and delivery.
- You bring experience in financial modelling, contract management, procurement and structured project governance.
Skills and capabilities
- You are analytically strong, structured and hands on. You work with data, identify issues quickly and take action.
- You are organized and able to manage multiple workstreams at the same time without losing control of priorities, deadlines or detail.
- You communicate clearly and confidently with investors, management, technical specialists and external counterparties.
- You are comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and holding your ground when pressure increases.
- You have strong contract management and negotiation skills.
- You are fluent in Dutch and English. French is an advantage.
What you can expect
- You will have real ownership in a role with visible impact on project outcomes.
- You will work within a clear governance structure with regular steering and board review moments, where decisions are taken and accountability matters.
- You will join a team that values preparation, clarity, execution and follow through.
- You will be part of an international organization with a strong portfolio, financial backing and long-term ambition in the Benelux market.
